COL - Freshwater microalgae

The Thonon Culture Collection is dedicated to freshwater microalgae.

The main objectives of the Thonon Culture Collection (TCC, https://doi.org/10.15454/UQEMVW) are to maintain cultures and uncultured samples of freshwater microalgae and to ensure their availability for:

- Research projects,

- Development projects (industrial companies),

- Practical work in education,

- The development of a living library.

This collection has been created in 1968 by Jacques Feuillade, research scientist who transferred the culture collection from Dijon to Thonon-les-Bains UMR CARRTEL. The collection includes more than 880 cultures and samples of freshwater microalgae, 493 are maintained alive and are publicly available (206 diatoms, 149 Chlorophyceae, 126 Cyanobacteria). The TCC is registered at the WDCM: WDCM 1030 (http://www.wfcc.info/ccinfo/index.php/collection/by_id/1030) and at the Global Registry of Biorepositories (http://grbio.org/institution/thonon-culture-collection-umr-carrtel-inra)
